If you're a mom like me, odds are that between Hispanic Heritage, Halloween, Harvest and Autumn, you've been jam packed with things to do. Hispanic Heritage Month is coming to an end and don't feel guilty if you didn't get a chance to "celebrate" your Hispanidad. Even though there is technically a week left, let's see what you can still do and continue to do beyond October, because let's face it, as Latinos we need to celebrate our cultura everyday! Whether it's by hablando Español, cooking with our Latino sabores, listening to música that touches our hearts, or sharing our stories of our ancestors, with simple habits you can celebrate your Hispanidad well beyond 1 month.

Beyond Hispanic Heritage Month
Moving beyond October 15th, there are many permanent institutions, cultural sights, and organizations that celebrate Latinx and Hispanic history. Well worth seeing these in your state or when you are traveling with the kids to get them interested in nuestra cultura. We scoured the net and our resources to provide you a list:

El Museo Latino
El Museo Latino is a museum featuring Latino and Hispanic art and history. In conjunction to the exhibits, El Museo Latino develops educational programs that include lectures, slide presentations, films, art classes, workshops, demonstrations, art history classes, gallery talks, guided visits, and dance classes. Some of the programs are age specific for K-12, some for post secondary students, and others are for an adult audience. In addition, El Museo Latino is a resource and a center for Latino studies in the Midwest.

Fondo del Sol Visual Arts Center
Founded in 1973, is a non-profit visual arts center in Washington D.C. It is the second oldest Latino multicultural museum in the United States.
Art Museum of the Americas
Art Museum of the Americas is the oldest museum of modern and contemporary Latin American and Caribbean art in the United States. It is part of the Organization of American States (OAS), an international public organization whose aim is to promote democracy, peace, justice, and solidarity among its 35 member countries.
Smithsonian Latino Center

Castillo De San Marcos National Monument
The Castillo de San Marcos was a post of the Spanish Empire guarding St. Augustine, the first permanent European settlement in the continental United States.The Spanish remained in power in Florida until the area was purchased by the United States in 1821. Called Fort Marion at this time, the Castillo was used by the U.S. army until 1899. The Castillo was made a national monument in 1924.
Fort Matanzas National Monument
Coastal Florida was a major field of conflict as European nations fought for control in the New World. As part of this struggle, Fort Matanzas guarded St. Augustine’s southern river approach. The colonial wars are over, but the monument is still protecting—not just the historic fort, but also the wild barrier island and the plants and animals who survive there amidst a sea of modern development.

Gary Nader fine art has become much more than just a gallery; it’s one of the most important fine art gallery and the largest gallery in the world with 55,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space with three components: Gary Nader Private Collection, the Exhibition Gallery and the Sculpture Park. Freedom Tower
The 17 story Maimi Freedom Tower was built in 1925 and it served as the headquarters and pringtin office of the Miami Daily News and Metropolis until 1957. Between 1962 and 1974 the building was used an immigration station for refugees from Cuba. The tower was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places on September 10, 1979.

Dry Tortugas National Park
The rich cultural heritage of the Dry Tortugas all begins with its location 70 miles west of Key West, Florida. The seven keys (Garden, Loggerhead, Bush, Long, East, Hospital, and Middle) collectively known as the Dry Tortugas, are situated on the edge of the main shipping channel between the Gulf of Mexico, the western Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean. The strategic location of the Dry Tortugas brought a large number of vessels through its surrounding waters as they connect the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Early on, the shipping channel was used among Spanish explorers and merchants traveling along the Gulf Coast.
