Raising Bilingües in 2026 - What's Working

Hola Hola,

Root canal.  Minnesota.  2026 Intentions.  Let's talk.

First, ¿cómo estás?  Really.
Sending you lots of light and love.

Remember how last month I mentioned I had a tooth infection? Well, last Friday I sat in the dentist’s chair for over three hours while they drilled and reworked an old root canal. Long story short, we’re still not sure if my muela can be saved :( but for now, I don’t feel like I got punched in the face, so I’ll take that win.

I don’t know about you, but I can handle all the Pap smears in the world… the dentist? No gracias!  I had no choice, so I went prepared... headphones on, podcast queue ready, literally doing everything I could to avoid a full-on panic attack. I wish I were kidding.

As he drilled away, I listened to a podcast episode called Create a Personal Curriculum (Without Turning It Into Homework) by Amy Porterfield. And in a nutshell, the idea stuck with me:

Instead of reacting to everything around us, we get to decide what we’re learning, what matters right now, and how we want to grow, intentionally, not from a place of stress or fear.

And to be honest I needed to hear that (the doom scroll this past week has been real).

Because with everything happening in Minnesota (whether you’re living it directly, watching it unfold, or feeling the ripple effects in your own community) there is a lot of fear, tension, and noise right now.

It reminded me how important it is to be intentional about what we give our attention to. Not just what we’re reacting to...miedo, opiniones, pressure, but what actually deserves space in our minds and in our families.

And that brings me to bilingual parenting in 2026.

Raising bilingües right now looks and FEELS different.

This week, I released a special bonus podcast episode where I talk about exactly that:

In this special bonus episode, I talk about what raising bilingües really looks like in 2026, especially in the moments that make you pause, question yourself, or wonder if it’s all worth it.

Inside the episode, I share four things that are actually working for bilingual families right now,  not theory, not pressure, and not perfection, just grounded, realistic guidance for today’s climate.

And because clarity matters more than ever, I’m also sharing my FREE Bilingual Foundations Checklist for 2026, a simple tool to help you tune out the noise and focus on what truly matters this year. Porque en un entorno dominado por el inglés, puedes criar hijos bilingües sin miedo.

------------------------------

If this month already feels like a long year, I feel you. Remember, it’s not just about being intentional with your attention, it’s also about surrounding yourself with a supportive community.

I’ll be hosting a FREE LIVE workshop on February 19 where we’ll explore practical strategies to help your child want to speak more Spanish in 2026 without stress, just clarity, and in a space where you can feel connected. More details are coming soon, but I wanted you to know what’s coming up.

Thank you for being a part of this community and continuing to show up!  Muchas bendiciones para ti y tu familia.  Cuídate, my friend.

Con mucho amor,
