As some of you may know, I took a trip of a lifetime with my best friend to celebrate our birthdays.  At first it started as a simple "mamacation" for both of us to get away from everyday mom and work life but what transpired over those 10 days was simply life changing and honestly unexpected.

There are many benefits and challenges for parents raising bilingual children.  I grew up speaking Spanish at home and English at school.  We hated speaking Spanish.  To us it was simply a way of communicating with our family.  It wasn't until years later that I truly appreciated the effort my parents put forth making sure we were able to speak, read, and write Español.  Fast forward many years and a toddler later, I too am doing my very best to raise a bilingual daughter.  I wanted to share ...

Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018!  Oh the holidays were so yummy with the natilla, buñuelos, cookies, tamales, coquito, chocolate, and all the indulgences.  Nobody ever gives you a box of apples for Christmas now do they? Every year is the same, at least for me, I am somewhat good UNTIL Thanksgiving and then it's all downhill from there and repeat.  Sound familiar? January comes along, with a few extra pounds and a new focus and determination until November again. But you know what? F#@k it.

I am very proud to introduce you to Conbon, a passionate artist, a teacher, and supporter of our Latino culture.  She is a folk artist who has created several works of art often inspired by images of her proud Latino heritage.
